A talk presented at REINVENTION @ Singapore Design Week 2025 on interdisciplinary practice, emerging technologies, and cultural imagination
REINVENTION marked the inaugural district activation at Singapore Science Park for Singapore Design Week 2025, positioning the precinct as a vibrant convergence point for science, technology, and design. Held from 11–21 September 2025, the festival created a platform for interdisciplinary exchange, experimentation, and public engagement, reinforcing Singapore Science Park’s role as a future-facing innovation district.
The event achieved strong visibility and reach, attracting over 21,000 visitors across 11 days, and delivering a robust programme comprising 70 programmes, 30 talks, and collaborations with 60 partners. REINVENTION also garnered significant local and international media attention, with coverage in outlets such as Dezeen, The Straits Times, and Lianhe Zaobao, underscoring its relevance within the global design and innovation landscape.
Overall, REINVENTION successfully activated the district at an urban scale, fostered cross-sector dialogue, and demonstrated the impact of design as a connective force between research, industry, and the public—setting a strong foundation for future editions and long-term collaborations.

Talk title: Shifting Realities: Art, Science, and the Spaces Between
Synopsis:
This presentation examines how art can reimagine the public’s perception of science through immersive, AI-augmented works inspired by quantum physics. Recent projects are presented as case studies, tracing how their meaning shifts across contexts—from monumental public screens in China’s City Digital Skin Art Festival, to large-scale immersive projections in Ars Electronica’s Deep Space (2025), to installations in Los Angeles during the wildfire crisis. In parallel, the presentation also highlights selected works by ADM students shown in the Ars Electronica Campus Exhibitions (2023/2025), demonstrating how emerging artists are also engaging with technology and scientific concepts to craft new narratives for diverse audiences. Together, these examples explore how art informed by science can adapt to place, time, and cultural moment, fostering new forms of dialogue between science and society.

Ina Conradi, of Slavic heritage, is based in Singapore and Los Angeles. An Associate Professor at NTU Singapore since 2005, she creates short films and immersive art that blend cultural archetypes with experimental interpretations of existence. A trained weaver and painter turned digital artist, she approaches animation as a spatial, choreographed experience—transforming screens into layered, temporal tapestries inspired by haute-lisse traditions.
Singapore Design Week (SDW) returns 11 – 21 Sep 2025 with the theme “Nation by Design”. This year’s festival celebrates how design has shaped the Singapore we know and love – and builds a national story that continues to unfold in bold, imaginative ways.
