Phenomenal: Spatial Installation for ADM’s 20th Anniversary

Presented as a three-screen video installation, Moirai, Thread of Life (2023), Chrysalis (2016), and Elysian Fields (2013) bring together three animated works by Ina Conradi and Mark Chavez, created over a decade and exhibited together for the first time. Unfolding in unsynchronised loops, the films generate shifting visual and temporal relationships, allowing moments of resonance and dissonance to emerge organically. Across mythic archetypes, cycles of transformation, and states of becoming, the installation invites viewers into a meditative space where time is layered rather than linear, and meaning arises through duration, recurrence, and variation.

Through an analytical lens, everyday phenomena and lived experiences are reinterpreted into conceptual frameworks for creative problem-solving, manifested across mediums that include painting, photography and film. Adopting diverse approaches, the artists in this exhibition not only reframes perception but also challenge established ways of seeing, fostering critical discourse and expanding the boundaries between art, design and their broader cultural implications. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with ADM’s 20th anniversary, marking a milestone in its ongoing contributions to art, design and media education.
