QUANTUM ART
Beyond the Visible
Curated by Nadia Stefanel
Opening: Saturday, 8 November, 6:30 pm

In the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, proclaimed by the United Nations to celebrate 100 years since the birth of quantum mechanics, the boundaries between science and art dissolve in the exhibition Quantum Art. Beyond the Visible, on view from 8 November 2025 to 21 March 2026 at the Fondazione Dino Zoli in Forlì. The exhibition invites visitors to discover the hidden laws governing the universe through the lens of contemporary art, capable of transforming complex theories into visual and sensory experiences.

The exhibition is promoted by the Fondazione Dino Zoli with the patronage of the Municipality of Forlì, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and Confindustria Romagna, and with the support of DZ Engineering, Dino Zoli Textile, Anipsia, and Dauha (technical sponsor). The opening will take place on Saturday, 8 November at 6:30 pm.

Curated by Nadia Stefanel, the exhibition brings to Italy for the first time the videos by Giacomo Costa, Vincenzo Marsiglia, and Leonardo Petrucci, premiered in Singapore during the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, alongside works by Giuliana Cunéaz and Singapore-based artists Ina Conradi and Mark Chavez.

The exhibition Quantum Perspective: The Art of Interference—held from 1 to 7 October 2025 at The Arts House in Singapore, and included in the official UNESCO calendar for the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology as well as the Grand Prix Season Singapore programme—is presented in Forlì in an enriched and expanded version. This version also includes three-dimensional works by Andrea Cereda and Amanda Chiarucci, as well as projects by Camilo Bojaca, Elena Nemkova, and Semiconductor, originating from Bienno Borgo Artisti 2.0, a residency project conceived by Cinzia Bontempi.

Interferencia by Camilo Bojaca approaches quantum mechanics from an aesthetic perspective, creating cubes with graphite leads or photographs that represent intersections and the multiplicity of realities that can coexist in the same time and space.

CLOUD_States of Mind by Andrea Cereda invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the floating, almost breathing space of the installation, encouraging reflection on the mutability of thoughts and resulting emotional states, also in relation to the digital cloud.

Before Blooming by Amanda Chiarucci explicitly references the ancient principles of Yin and Yang, in dialogue with contemporary philosophical reflections in quantum physics: opposing forces that are in fact complementary and interdependent, seeking a harmonious and dynamic balance.

Quantum Logos by Ina Conradi and Mark Chavez is an immersive projection that evokes wave superposition through light and movement, transforming into a visual meditation on uncertainty and creation.

Circuit No. 1 by Giacomo Costa weaves the speed of Formula 1 with quantum uncertainty, transforming the city into a circuit of luminous particle detectors.

Quantum Quirks by Giuliana Cunéaz features transforming forms that embody the beauty of uncertainty and translate the paradoxes of quantum mechanics into playful and engaging images.

Stroboscopic Star by Vincenzo Marsiglia fuses quantum physics with the focus of Formula 1, transforming probability and motion into rhythmic geometries, colours, and lights inspired by telemetry and quantum oscillations.

My Imperfect Land –1 by Elena Nemkova brings together, within a single composition, “lands” and artefacts far removed from one another—such as amber, algae, crystals, and pigments from remote locations—that could never have met except through the artist, who thus becomes their point of contact and mutual transformation, recalling the paradoxes of quantum entanglement.

Inside the Box by Leonardo Petrucci merges Schrödinger’s paradox with the Night Race, turning uncertainty into an artistic meditation on reality.

20Hz by Semiconductor, working with data collected from the CARISMA radio system and interpreted as audio—which then generates tangible, sculptural forms through custom programming techniques—seeks to probe the limits of our perception and question our experience of these invisible phenomena.

“The project,” explains curator Nadia Stefanel, “does not simply aim to exhibit artworks, but seeks to dissolve the boundaries between disciplines traditionally kept separate and to encourage a consonance between scientific approaches and artistic expression. Art, in this context, is not merely a representation of human emotions, but becomes a powerful means of translating complex scientific ideas into visual and experiential forms. This approach not only makes challenging scientific themes accessible, but also fosters a deeper dialogue between science and human experience, creating a platform for reflection and inspiration that invites us to reconsider our role in the universe.”

“One of the goals of the Fondazione Dino Zoli,” states Monica Zoli, Vice President of the Dino Zoli Group, “is to propose initiatives capable of generating reflection on multiple levels: personal, social, and cultural. With this exhibition, inspired by quantum physics—one of the most significant achievements of scientific thought—we focus on values that touch the meaning of existence, interpreted through the different languages with which each of us resonates. Quantum mechanics, in fact, brings rational thought closer to the deeper and more intuitive dimensions that art is able to set vibrating. During the exhibition period, we will propose moments of in-depth exploration and cross-pollination with other languages to continue investigating what lies beyond the visible.”

Quantum Art. Beyond the Visible is not just an exhibition, but a journey into the mysteries of the universe, where abstract mathematics becomes emotion, and where the language of science finds its counterpart in the imaginative power of art.

The Fondazione Dino Zoli is open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9:30 am–12:30 pm and 4:30–7:30 pm; closed on 8, 24, 25, 26, and 31 December, and 1 January. Free admission. www.fondazionedinozoli.com.
